2020 Food Trends: What Consumers Want
Consumers are driving change in the global food industry like never before, triggering innovation and disrupting whole industries. To start off the new year, Plant Protein Alliance of Alberta is bring in the UK’s Professor David Hughes to Edmonton and Calgary — a vibrant and much sought-after speaker on the global food industry, particularly on consumer and retail trends.
Widely known as Dr. Food, David will talk about key food trends in the year ahead and the related growth opportunities available for Alberta.
Plant-based alternatives will be there, of course! But where is the movement going? And what else will be on the plate and in the aisle?
David spends 300 days a year traveling the world and has an upfront view on constantly evolving food and beverage developments — at the consumer, grocery and food-service levels.
Around the globe David works with multinational corporations, R&D organizations, growers, manufacturers, governments and others to work out the best ways to embrace change. He stays on top of leading-edge research with his academic work at the Centre for Value Chain Research at the University of Kent and at Imperial College London. He’s also a visiting professor at the Royal Agriculture College, UK.
